The Department of Anatomy was established in October 2009 under Başkent University in Ankara. It provides education to 132 students from the School of Health Services. The education is delivered in two stages: theoretical lectures and practical sessions. For this purpose, there is an amphitheater that can accommodate 160 people, four classrooms each with a capacity of 40 people, and one medical skills laboratory.
The educational program of the Department of Anatomy aims to convey to the students the morphological characteristics of structures and systems in the healthy human body, their locations within the body, and their interrelations on a functional basis. It also aims to evaluate various lesions in an anatomical context. Care is taken to ensure that the information provided lays the foundation for later stages of professional education and serves as a guide in professional practices.
The education emphasizes the principle of active student participation, supported by visual materials and films in the form of PowerPoint presentations. Practical lessons are conducted on artificial models.
